Classis Meeting of the PRC in the Philippines

The Protestant Reformed Churches in the Philippines held their regular Classis meeting this past Friday, October 31, 2014. The meeting was hosted by the PRC in Bulacan and held in their church building. Rev. R. Smit, president of the previous Classis, opened the meeting with devotions (Classis and visitors sang Psalter #345 and Rev. Smit gave a meditation on Psalm 124). By decision of classis, Rev. D. Kleyn chaired the meeting. This was the 3rd Classis meeting of the denomination, which was officially established on April 9 of this year.

Most of the business of Classis was routine, with reports coming to the Classis from the stated clerk, the treasurer, and the standing committees of the Classis. In other business, a letter of congratulations and encouragement was received from the Synod of the PRCA, through its stated clerk, Mr. Don Doezema. A letter was also received from the Maranatha PRC in Valenzuela, requesting membership in the Federation of the PRC in the Philippines. This matter was given into the hands of the standing committee of Classis that is responsible for contact with other churches with a view to that committee coming with recommendations to the next Classis meeting, the Lord willing.

The next meeting of the Classis is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2015. The Berean PRC has offered to host that upcoming meeting.

It was encouraging to have many members of the churches (Berean PRC, and PRC in Bulacan) as well as some visitors attend the meeting of Classis.

It is our prayer that God will bless the work done and the decisions made by this Classis. May He also continue to guide the PRCP denomination in all its future work and witness to Him and His truth here in the Philippines.
